I am an Eagle!

You are my Light and my Salvation You lift me up to soar, Soar like an eagle! Dragged into the gutter, the human gutter of despair Hopeless, forlorn, abandoned, rejected. Solace in alcohol. Rest in medication. Blankness my happiest state, to take away my pain. Take away my pain, Take away my fear, Take away this pointless world. You hear me crying, You do nothing. Despair almost takes my life, You do nothing. I am drained beyond exhaustion, an empty husk, You do nothing! I shout out: “You are not there! You do not exist!” You do nothing! My voice defies You! My mind denies You! My heart is broken! My spirit cries out! My spirit cries out! My spirit cries out! My spirit cries out! Obliterated in humbleness it begs for Your help! You answer. You answer quietly. Your grace pours onto me, into me, over me. Drenching my drought-ridden soul, Your river fills the temple, I am Your temple. Peace descends. Love triumphs. The death of my soul is ended. I am open to You. Yielding, unreservedly yielding. Your arms enfold me, Carry me to safer ground, Shielding my true being. I can rest here. I am whole. I am blessed in needing You, To be Yours. Quiet, relaxed, inspired. Now I can soar soar like an eagle!
